Description
Gary Bartz joins London ensemble Your Brother’s Keeper for Where Rivers Meet, a collaborative session shaped by instinct, dialogue and collective improvisation. Bridging generations, it pairs Bartz’s expansive jazz lineage with a group drawn from the capital’s evolving scene.
A key voice in modern jazz, Bartz built his reputation alongside Charles Mingus, Max Roach and Art Blakey before his tenure with Miles Davis, later defining spiritual jazz through his NTU Troop recordings. His saxophone remains lyrical, searching and deeply expressive.
Led by Jake Long, Your Brother’s Keeper features Ali MacSween, Axel Kaner-Lidstrom, Twm Dylan, Tim Doyle and Chelsea Carmichael. Together they create open, responsive music that balances intensity with space, echoing the exploratory spirit of artists such as Pharoah Sanders and contemporary London peers.
