Description
Curio Curio is a new project from Rio-born singer Luiza Monteiro and German producer Dustin Braun, two artists who crossed paths in Europe and quickly landed on a wonderfully loose fusion of Brazilian MPB, psychedelic disco and analogue studio soul. 'Bem Querer' is all tumbling samba percussion, singalong hooks and glowing street-party energy, thenn 'Vem Pra Casa' veers into cosmic boogie territory with humid basslines and soft-focus synth shimmer. Elsewhere, 'Amor Doente' pares things back slightly with drifting melodies and smoky vocal phrasing, before 'Menina Passarinho' folds gentle MPB guitar lines into a more introspective mood. Braun's tape-heavy production gives the whole thing a lovely worn-in texture throughout.
