Description
Following his striking debut Ghetto Music, radical trumpeter Eddie Gale pushed that vision further on 1969’s Black Rhythm Happening. It is a powerful, deeply expressive record that brings together the Noble Gale Musicians & Singers with a small but vital cast of guests. Among them are saxophonist Jimmy Lyons and drummer Elvin Jones, adding extra force and colour to a set of evocative Gale originals. From the emphatic title track to the austere beauty of Song Of Will, this is spiritual jazz with purpose, presence and heart.
