Vladislav Delay steps into new territory with an acoustic jazz quintet, bringing his restless, forward-thinking approach into a live ensemble setting. Recorded at Candybomber Studio in Berlin, the album features Maria Bertel, Lucio Capece, Derek Shirley and Max Loderbauer across ten shape-shifting pieces that resist easy categorisation.
Long based in Hailuoto, Northern Finland, Vladislav Delay has built a reputation on constant evolution, from his solo work on Rajaton to projects under the Ripatti alias and collaborations with the Moritz Von Oswald Trio. Here, that exploratory instinct carries into acoustic territory, where loose structures and fluid interplay take precedence.
Hints of his electronic language remain, but this is jazz as open process—elastic, searching and unconcerned with convention, where past forms act only as a springboard for new directions.
