Established in Benin in the late Sixties and going strong today, Albarika Store is the subject of this new compilation from Acid Jazz documenting the label’s history and the music it has released. Curated by West African music expert Florent Mazzoleni and The Soul Revivers’ David Hill, the music on The Albarika Story (Vol. 1) is a tour-de-force of kinetic Afrobeat influenced increasingly by soul, Latin music and psychedelic rock, containing many tracks by the prolific Orchestre Poly-Rhythmo.
