With Side-Eye III+, Pat Metheny continues to develop his Side-Eye project as a space for collaboration, immediacy, and exploration. Working with a compact, agile ensemble, Metheny places group interaction at the centre of the music, allowing ideas to unfold in real time rather than leaning on established templates.
The album brings together pianist and keyboardist Chris Fishman, drummer Joe Dyson, and bassist Jermaine Paul, whose playing balances precision with openness. Across eight all-original compositions, the group moves fluidly between tightly focused themes and expansive improvisation, creating music that feels alert, conversational, and continually in motion.
Released in partnership with Green Hill Music, the record also marks the launch of Metheny’s own imprint, Uniquity Music, underscoring his ongoing commitment to artistic independence and collaboration. Side-Eye III+ captures an artist still driven by curiosity, using the band format as a living, evolving instrument.
