Description
Recorded high in the Jura mountains during a 2023 performance at the Spiegelberg Festival, Live in Jura documents Ill Considered at their most expansive and responsive. Set in an open pasture overlooking the surrounding landscape, the music unfolds as a continuous, living exchange shaped by environment, audience and instinct.
Across the performance, Idris Rahman (saxophone, flute), Liran Donin (bass) and Emre Ramazanoglu (drums) build a slow-burning arc from hushed motifs to surging climaxes. Bass pulses anchor shifting rhythmic cells, cymbals shimmer and fracture, and woodwind lines move between meditative invocation and ecstatic release. The trio’s approach to free improvisation is grounded not in abstraction but in listening — each gesture answered, redirected or gently dissolved in real time.
The recording also includes an extended ambient piece constructed from field recordings gathered around the concert site. Reworked into a drifting, luminous composition featuring The Voices of the Alpenglow, it blurs the line between performance and place, folding natural sound into the album’s wider emotional terrain.
