René Urtreger (Piano), Barney Wilen (Tenor Saxophone), Pierre Michelot (Bass) and Kenny Clarke (Drums) were given only a few harmonic sequences worked out by Miles Davis (Trumpet) in his hotel room, and improvised in response to projected scenes from the film to produce this remarkable noirish soundtrack.
