Certainly the rich tapestry of early American music of all descriptions that surrounded him from his birth in 1894 in rural Mississippi contributed to his musical constructs, but the amalgam was all his own. Even today, almost 100 years after these recordings were made, they seem to speak eloquently to listeners and continue to provide great listening pleasure. Among his enduring classic recordings featured here are his "Frankie," "Stack O'Lee," "Candy Man," "Louis Collins," "Spike Driver Blues," and "Nobody's Dirty Business."
