Studio One Classics on Soul Jazz Records marks 25 years of collaboration with Studio One, revisiting one of the label’s most enduring compilations. Drawing from over four decades of recordings, it captures the breadth of the legendary Jamaican imprint through a tightly sequenced set of key tracks.
Featuring a roll call of foundational artists including Bob Marley, The Heptones, Horace Andy, Sugar Minott, Don Drummond and Prince Jazzbo, the collection highlights defining cuts such as ‘Simmer Down’, ‘Love Me Forever’, ‘Rougher Yet’, ‘Fever’, ‘I’m Just A Guy’ and ‘Confucious’.
Founded by Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd, Studio One shaped the evolution of Jamaican music, from ska and rocksteady through to roots and dancehall. This set distils that legacy into a concise, accessible overview—an ideal starting point for newcomers and a reminder of the label’s lasting influence.
