Description
DJ Yoshizawa Dynamite - a veteran of Japan's late-80s club scene and one of the country's foremost authorities on wamono - returns with another deep excavation of Japanese groove history. This time, he dives into the vast King Records archive, unearthing tracks that bridge minyo (traditional folk songs once sung by fishermen and miners) with the heady rhythms of afro-latin, funk, and rare groove. Spanning 1963 to 1979, these reinterpretations capture a cultural moment when Japan's folk traditions met global pop experimentation. From Akira Ishikawa's wild percussion to The Peanuts' long-lost 'Ohara Bushi' it's a revelatory document of musical fusion and rediscovery.
