Miles Davis’ Miles '55 collects sixteen recordings from 1955 sessions at the legendary Van Gelder Studio. Capturing a pivotal year in Davis’s career, the album features an outstanding lineup including John Coltrane, Milt Jackson, Red Garland, Ray Bryant, and Oscar Pettiford. These sessions showcase the transitional energy and stylistic development that would define Davis’s future work.
The release is accompanied by new liner notes from GRAMMY®-winning historian Ashley Kahn and detailed session notes by jazz scholar Dan Morgenstern, offering insight into the recordings’ historical and musical significance.
