Live at Art D'Lugoff's Top of the Gate by Bill Evans was released in 2012 after being newly discovered. It was recorded during his heyday in the 1970s in the room above the Village Gate, in Greenwich Village in New York City by George Klabin, a recording engineer for WKCR-FM. The well-defined sounds let in a little crowd noise for extra atmosphere and find Evans variously in a hurry on 'Yesterdays' and more lyrical on the likes of 'Someday My Prince Will Come,' 'California Here I Come' and 'Alfie'. It makes for an engaging set and a great addition to any jazz head's shelves, especially as this is a deluxe edition.
