Alongside his reputation as a lo-fi synth-pop cult figure, Maus’s academic background (CalArts, University of Hawaii) informs his unique fusion of intellect and feeling. He’s been sampled by Skepta, admired by Josh Safdie and Natasha Lyonne, and recently featured in the film Friendship via his track ‘Cop Killer’.
With previous releases including Songs, Love Is Real, and Screen Memories, John Maus has long stood at the intersection of absurdity and truth. On Later Than You Think, he goes further — reaching for transcendence with urgency, honesty, and belief.
