Description
Techno pioneer Jeff Mills incurs spine chills with his latest collection of 'Gamma Rays' - four previously unreleased tracks recorded around 1995 and specifically made for a DJ mix film and audio recording made at Tokyo's Liquid Room. Finalised only onto 1/4" reel-to-reel tape at the time, these went unheard for three decades until their exhuming for this release. These are techno armaggedons beyond the usual eagerness-to-dominate; Mills softens the kicks to abstraction, achieving pure, flow-state zones. 'I4' and 'I2' sound rather a long way from human, the latter's interruptive stutters especially recalling those heard in his legendary live set.
