Emeralds is the second album from Parlor Greens, a trio drawing on decades of shared groove knowledge to explore the many shades of funky organ music. On drums is Tim Carman (formerly of GA-20), guitarist Jimmy James (True Loves, formerly of Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio), and organist Adam Scone (Scone Cash Players, The Sugarman 3). Together, they make instinctive, lock-tight instrumentals that feel lived-in and generous.
Recorded at Colemine’s Portage Lounge studio in Loveland, the sessions carried a different weight from the band’s first meeting. Each member arrived carrying personal loss, and the music became a way to reconnect — not just as players, but as friends. That sense of trust and ease runs through the record, from the sharp, dancing grooves to the slower, reflective moments.
The emotional centre arrives with the closing track, ‘Queen Of My Heart’, written by Jimmy James for his mother shortly after her passing. It’s a quiet, soulful finale that underlines the album’s purpose: three musicians finding joy, comfort and momentum together.
