Israeli multi-instrumentalist Kutiman returns with a six-track suite of cinematic, off-grid funk that leans into dream logic and widescreen atmosphere. 'Fog Ahead' drifts through hazy Rhodes chords, dusty drums and gently looped guitar, while 'So Long Stay Safe' feels like underwater soul-delayed claps and tremolo textures floating beneath ghosted vocal snippets. Elsewhere, 'Dimdum' edges toward psychedelic jazz-funk, built on rubbery bass and fractured keyboard motifs. While there are echoes of Khruangbin or El Michels Affair, Kutiman's world is stranger, more internal-everything slightly warped, like a reel-to-reel tape wobbling off-centre. The production, mixed by Obas Nenor, gives each layer room to shimmer. It's trip-hop by way of Anatolia, ambient soul with a kosmische bent-low-slung, slow-burning, and utterly immersive. A deep-listening record that rewards full playthrough.
