Oilix’s latest album, Dissolved, is a mesmerizing journey through the vibe of ’90s trip hop and downtempo, updated and realized in an exciting new way. Released on Cold Busted, this 13-track odyssey follows up on the Kazakhstan-born producer’s previous EP, Nothing But Summer, and showcases his unique “sunhop” style, blending bright melodies with undeniable grooves.
From the opening track, “Pioggia Della Sera,” listeners are transported to a world of slow-motion bliss, floating above plush sofas as spaced-out tones, gentle guitar, and horn melodies intertwine. This is followed by “Surrealist,” which glides in an addictive slow motion, splashed with rhythm change-ups, eerie synth pads, and haunted murmurings. Another highlight is the title track, “Dissolved,” which immerses one in a pool of swirling synth pads and vibrating sub-bass, creating a sleek and sexy atmosphere that’s impossible to resist.
